WHO, UNAIDS and the UNAIDS Reference Group on Estimates, Modelling and Projections held a consultation to review and discuss estimates of child infections and need for ART, which took place at the Rydges Kensington Hotel in London. The overall meeting aims were as follows:
- Improve the ability for countries to estimate and project the number of children and adolescents living with HIV
- Estimate the number of children in need for 1st and 2nd line regimens over time by 2020 and explore size and age of this population
The meeting program covered the following sessions:
- Estimating births of HIV+ women
- Retention on ART among women
- Transmission tates
- Ag-specific ART among chiden and adolescents
- Adolescents
- HIV exposed uninfected and orphans estimates
- Improving quantification, forecasting and assessment of demand
- Method development for paediatric CEPAC model
